So, I'm brand new to NoScrubs. I've been playing for three days now and I'm level 30.
Some of you are probably going to read this and scoff at the progress I've made, but I'm
new to Iris Online as well, I'm learning. However, what I've discovered is that as I
lurk the forums, I see people offering to assist others with various quests, complaining
about donations and farmers and the economy and whatnot. You know, basic, overall normal
private server banter. What I have also learned is that this community also appears to
be very unwelcoming to new players. I've run into groups of people that are sitting
around, chatting, having fun, I think I may have run into a GM as well in one of these
groups ( There were lots of monsters being summoned and killed at once with this
particular group ) and when I asked for assistance, nobody even bothered to talk to
me, direct me in the direction of someone or something that would help, or even just say
that they couldn't or wouldn't help. Everyone just ignored me as if I wasn't there. I've
done this with two different characters on both channels all three days and each time,
everyone acted as if you couldn't see or hear me. I'm not sure why nobody talks to new
players, but I must admit, it's hard to feel like donating to help the server, or even to
just keep PLAYING wouldn't be a waste of my time. I like to talk, have friends, and be social too,
but I can't do it of I'm talking to a bunch of players that act as
if I don't exist. I'm not trying to bash, be cruel, or even really complain, I just thought I'd
point out that so far, your community isn't very newbie friendly.

I also am new to Iris and have been playing for several days like yourself AppleJack. However, I guess it depends on luck and exactly who you tried to talk to. Sometimes people are in a bad mood or are lazy, or even trying to plan a raid of Crystalix maybe... If they were in the process of planning a raid, they will most likely ignore any non lvl 75s because you have to be max level to even go to Crystalix and survive I believe. A guildmate who was lvl 74 couldn't even go with the guild raid that went last night. However, if you try to ask questions like in shout using "/y" command. Sometimes people in Terminius will answer.

I was lucky to be invited to Pegasus, I have made quite a few friends who I wouldn't normally even walk up to and talk to if I wasn't in the same guild. Then again I am a bit on the shy side :P .

I hope you find some people who do respond AppleJack cause from just a few days here I found several things. A brand new game and a decent community of players (better then most private servers ive played where the community is in shambles or camps newbie spawn areas and PKs anyone who joins the server... sad right?).

Hey, of course you can interact within the public, but guilds here play a very important role.
It's the place you meet up with the players you play with frequently, thats were friendships have thrived the most - and where help is given and received in return.

I second that suggestion, get a good and friendly guild to start off on a good basis - you will meet and get to know more players after that.

I'm sorry that you have ran across some unwelcoming people. There are some guilds and people who are nice to all. Monster summons are meant to keep the lvl 75 on their toes but i do admit i over summon because of all the AFK in the town or granting the wishes of players  . If you get in the game I will see if I can find someone to help you out. Sorry again for the unwelcoming vibe.

    Malorie, that doesn't help.
Why should I have to join a guild, just to get people to talk with me? They were
speaking in public chat just fine. :/
