I'm trying to decide on a laptop!
The lenovo is sitting on Ebay for like $580 on auction and will stop the bids in 2hrs and the Acer is on Walmart website for $800 which I can get a discount since I work there. Now the Ebay one has a decent amount of bidders and probably will jack the bids up before it ends which I expect to be less $1000 if they're all paying attention. Which one do you think I should try and get?

Definitely the Lenovo. I have that exact one, and I got it on ebay too. The auction ended at 628.00 it was refurbished (not sure if the one you're looking at is?), and there were a ton of last minute bidders. So make sure you're around when it ends. Don't be scared to buy something refurbished by the way, mine only had a spot on the keyboard that is hardly noticeable. Make sure it's A+ grade Refurbished.
But yes, this laptop is beast and it can run any game/program of mine with no problem. You'll love it. :) The only thing that takes some getting used to is the touchpad, so I suggest getting another mouse for it.

Does that i7 get hot? We have an HP Envy laptop which is a great performer, but it gets so damn hot you can't touch it after a while :/

Try to get a windows7 pc, rather than windows8. 8 is pretty horrific, you have to relearn where everything goes and is a huge pain to work with.

Depends on where you keep it. If it's on a bed or on your lap it'll definitely get hot with a few things running on it. I try to keep it on a cooling pad or a desk so it doesn't get so burning hot.

Not that keen on i7 on a laptop any more, like Sedy said above ours was getting so hot you couldn't touch it. I was boiling eggs on it.
Plus, it was shutting down after a while because it was getting overheated.

Maybe it was that model, I can't tell, but at the moment my Acer i5 laptop with 4gigs of memory and just a simple integrated gfx card has been awesome.

So don't be too upset if you can't get the lenovo one, the Acer one looks great also.

Yeh we even had a metal cooling stand with two fans in it but the thing could still fry eggs. Gala was wearing gloves to use it lol.

Ugh, laptops always get hot. I remember before I got burned on my thighs when I had it on my skin for an hour ~>~ Gahd.
If you can win on the Lenovo one, grab it. But as people said above, if youre using a laptop -- keep it well ventilated and dont overpower it with super usage since it "issss" a laptop. XD Really depens on your Budget and things you will use it on.

If its games, both can do pretty well, its graphics card is pretty good xD Decent at least. If its Editing programs like photoshop, Acer can handle it. if youre gonna try out a biiit of minor modelling, go Lenovo.
Honestly Acer seems pretty balanced, Lenovo got a bit more edge to it. =)) Have fun bish
